Stay tune for another article about search engine strategies in Chicago. This one I will go over what we heard about from the Dealing with Contextual & Other Non-Search Ads.
This was an interesting session with representatives from both Google and Overture. I will just say the speakers didn't seem impressed at all with Google Adwords.

How should you use your affiliate links?
When building traffic to an affiliate site it may be better to redirect your affiliate links to your own site.
It is better to put a page on your site about products/services, good seo. Then from your main domain link to the affiliate landing page.
2 good reasons:
1. To bring the traffic to your domain instead of someone elses. You keep control of your traffic. If an affiliate program disappears, you can usually find another to replace it with. But if you have building up sending the traffic direcly to the affiliate system, it will take more time to recover.
2. Some affiliate programs only count sales from the domain name you gave them when you signed up. So if you are promoting on a different domain you are losing sales and probably don't even know it.

I have chosen to go over Mr. Bowler’s part of the session. This was by far one of the best speakers I had heard all day. Probably because it wasn’t as much theory, it was based on a client case. He gave detailed enough facts that you could understand and grasp the shopping engines potential.
